If I had it my way, I’d own three boats to cover all that Northeast saltwater fishing has to offer: a Downeast for running through anything, an XL center console or sportfish for charging offshore, and a nimble inshore skiff perfect for quick runs with the family—or those before-work tides in the rips. But as a working father with two kids in multiple sports, a packed family schedule, and a finite budget, I need something I can launch solo whenever a rare window opens up.
That’s why the BoatMart classified listing that caught my eye was this 2023 Sailfish 241 CC, priced at $109,995. I had been leaning toward smaller hybrid bay boats in the 20’–24’ range for their simplicity, but this Sailfish checks a lot more boxes than I set out looking to check.

Offshore-minded at heart, a boat with ample range and ride quality is going to suck me right into justifying it’s the practical move. This hull design is reminiscent of the legendary 23’ SeaCraft (which I still regret selling). I’ve been 75 miles out on this hull on a friends boat before catching tuna and mahi — so I can confirm it’s a solid riding boat, even in the predictable slop that Martha’s Vineyard Sound throws at you on the way home, thanks to its 22–24-degree multi-angle deadrise.
It’s towable, launchable solo, and with low hours and 4-stroke Yamaha power; it’s a reliable, modern platform with room to customize. First upgrade? Ditch the windlass and anchor for a bow-mounted Minn Kota trolling motor. It’s pre-rigged for radar, too—add that to the to-do list.
With this setup, you’ve got a killer platform for everything from seabass, fluke, stripers, and blues to late-summer albies and bones. The trolling motor makes extending your season on both sides with hassle free togging and gives you flexibility for stealthy inshore work. And yes, I’ll keep my eyes open for opportunities to shoot out for run-and-gun tuna whenever possible. On weekends, this boat also gets the whole family to the Upper Cape and Vineyard hangouts accessible only by water. “Look hun, you can lounge with a glass of wine on the forward seating on our way to our favorite beach or dock and dine restaurant, you’re going to love it!”.
