Raymarine Marine Electronics How-To: Quickly Identify Productive Depths

When looking for gamefish at specific depths, being able to quickly identify the productive areas is essential.

When looking for gamefish at specific depths, being able to quickly identify the productive areas is essential to spending less time searching and more time fishing.

In inshore waters, when targeting reefs, rips, and other shallow structures, set your chartplotter to shade shallower depths, that way, you can zoom out, and quickly identify other similar structures nearby.

The same is true for offshore fishing, shading the deepest depths to look for the humps, ledges, underwater valleys that concentrate baitfish, and the large pelagic predators that eat them.
