Plano wants to help Anglers Fish More with GoNow Tackle Organization System

Disorganized gear keeps anglers off the water. Plano’s GoNow System aims to fix that with modular, grab-and-go storage built for real fishing life.

I have a buddy, let’s call him Pat, who, whenever I ask him to go fishing is always excited to go…at first. Then, that excitement wanes as he begins to wonder aloud where his leader material is and what happened to his box of jigs from last fall. And eventually, Pat bails, saying he’s “gotta get the gear together” and then he’ll be ready to fish.

Lack of tackle organization can a major hurdle to getting out fishing. Plano, in describing the inspiration for the new GoNow System, shared some surprising research about how a lack of organization impedes fishing.

  • Nearly 50% of anglers say they’ve repurchased gear they already owned
  • Only 15% of outdoor enthusiasts say their gear is easy to grab and go.
  • Roughly 75% of anglers say faster prep would increase how often they get outdoors

I’m definitely guilty of buying gear I already have. Somewhere in my basement, there are roughly a dozen clam knives and a hundred trout spoons that I can never seem to find when I need them. And Pat definitely falls into that 75% who would fish more if he didn’t have to relocate all his gear before every trip.

From Plano:

The Plano GoNow system features both a Small and Large Box and a host of accessories designed to keep gear organized, accessible, and ready at a moment’s notice. The system is designed to give outdoor enthusiasts a smarter, more efficient way to store and manage their gear. With intuitive organization, durable construction, and modular accessories tailored to different pursuits, GoNow helps eliminate the frustration of misplaced equipment and last-minute searching.

The boxes are modular, with accessories (including rod holders) available to help you tailor it to your pursuit, be it fly-fishing, bass fishing, saltwater fishing, or even hunting and camping. They’re built to be durable, and the press materials showed anglers standing on them for a better vantage point while flats fishing. They can be easily stacked and transported, and can be loaded up to organize gear at home, and then loaded into the truck or boat. The sizing, Plano says in the press release, was “developed through extensive research around vehicle storage, carry ergonomics, and compatibility with popular gear storage formats.”

More of the boxes features include a latch design allows for quick access or full lid removal, weatherproof construction with integrated waterproof seal, rubberized non-skid feet prevent sliding in truck beds or boat decks, internal tray with customizable dividers for fast gear access, and a rigid structural lid supports sitting, standing, and stacking.

I have a GoNow Box on the way to help me get organized this spring, though if I was a truly good fishing buddy, I’d give it to Pat to help him get out more this season. We’ll see.
