An amazing day on the water fishing out of Truro, Massachusetts with Kevin Pawsey and Captain Josh Zacharias from Outermost Angling Charter.
We met up with Captain Josh in the morning, the ocean was flat but cloudy, we were greeted by birds and whales at first light but no tuna. After a while we started seeing them busting on top water not far away from us, unfortunately they disappeared upon our arrival and it happened a couple of times to us, it was really frustrating to see them playing hide and seek, but it’s part of the run and gun game.
Rod: Blackhole Popping Rod
Reel: Shimano Stella SW 20000
Line: Power Pro 80lb Hollowace to 100lb Pink Yo-Zuri Fluoro Leader
Lure: Strategic Angler
After missing a couple of nice shots without a connecting, Josh saw a big flock of sitting birds far away from us and he decided to give it a try, what a great call, I was casting from the back, Kevin was casting from the front, one twitch, two twitch…and all of a sudden Kevin shouted “I’m tight, I’m tight!”
The fight was nasty and definitely needed team work, we all took turns with the fight including Josh.
After approximately 80 minutes we landed the fish to find that it was actually foul hooked, the fish was smaller than what we expected but it sure was a decent fish with a fat belly. It always feels great spending good times with good company and Captain Josh and to score a fish is always a plus, after all it is about the good time and memory spend on the water!
