RonZ Lures Return

In early May of this year the New England fishing industry lost an icon as Ron “Ron Z” Poirier lost a hard fought battle with cancer. Ron was a pioneer and innovator of saltwater soft plastic baits and his passion for fishing and storytelling will be sorely missed.

Fortunately for the regions’ striper and tuna fanatics Ron’s legacy will live on through his fabled lures as the company was recently acquired by Jim Mandly of Portsmouth, RI and Stuart, FL. Mandly plans to set up operations in both Rhode Island and Florida. Production of baits is already under way and available at tackle shops and the company’s website, ronzlures.com.

“I made a promise to Ron to maintain the same level of craftsmanship and precision engineering that Ron was so passionate about. Fisherman can count on the new Ronz to have that same look, feel and wiggle. Plus we have some new applications on the fire.”

One of RonZ’s longtime pro staff members will also join the team. Captain Jack Sprengel of East Coast Charters will spearhead sales, marketing and other key aspects of the operation. No stranger to the national sport fishing scene, Sprengel has over two decades of relevant experience, both on the water and in the retail sector. Says Jack, “I’ve believed in the brand and supported Ron’s philosophy since the very first baits hit the scene. I can assure all Ronz fanatics across the globe that the quality and catch-ability of these baits will remain exactly as they have come to expect: Simply Perfect.”

Anyone who was ever lucky enough to have crossed paths with Ron Poirier will surely miss his engaging personality and sense of pride in his products, but his spirit will live on with the legendary RonZ lure.
