Shimano Introduces Long Cast Surf System

Shimano has unveiled a new long-distance surfcasting system consisting of three reel models and one rod. Fishermen are invited to pick up the new combos and test the long-cast technology at any one of the demos being led this summer by surfcasting specialist Roy Leyva.

The flagship reel, the Aero Technium 10000 XS, features X-Ship gearing for smoothness and efficiency, and SuperSlow 10 oscillation retrieve that lays line on the spool evenly, reducing friction and leading to longer casts. It retails for $699.

The Ultegra CI4+ 5500 has a lightweight, compact body and a long-cast spool. The SuperSlow 5 oscillation lays line evenly and increases casting distance. The price of the Ultegra CI4+ 5500 is $319.

With SuperSlow 5 oscillation and X-Ship gearing, the Ultegra 5500 XS-C and 10000 XS-C offer long-cast capability at a great value. The 5500 costs $199, while the 10000 costs $219.

The new Tiralejo Long Cast Concept surf rods have been totally redesigned with lightweight C4S blank construction, Fuji K-Frame tangle-free guides and a Fuji reel seat.
