Mike Hogan of Hogy Lures sent along this video of his lures being used to dupe silver kings down in the Florida Keys. Mike is a native Cape Codder and no doubt had stripers first and foremost in his mind when he developed the Hogy, but he’s since contracted a serious case of tarpon fishing fever that has lead to a great deal of product testing down south.

Mike’s video has us thinking about all the anglers in the Northeast who pursue their fishing passion in warmer climes, especially during the winter months, whether it’s an annual trip to the Keys or a once-in-a-lifetime trip fishing trip to Panama. We pride ourselves on being a regional magazine, but we have published a few destination features in the winter months – with the rule that they are always written from a Northeastern angler’s point of view. We’re planning to run a few more destination features in our winter issues, so lets us know which angling destinations you like to visit, plan to visit, or just want to read about from an On The Water perspective.
And if you enjoyed Hogy’s tarpon video, you have to watch this trailer for “Riding High: A Season on the Fly.”
