Ok… I wasn’t going to bore you with the details, but I thought, just in case you’re all boat junkies like me, you’ll want to see “The List.” So here it is, in its full unedited glory…
Blackwatch
Project list
For splashing we need to do the following:
Hull exterior
- Fix stringers (dry out/replace or seal any issues)
- Any water intrusion issues indicated in survey (topside & transom. Send a copy of survey to NorthCoast)
- Fix gunnel cap & install new rod holders (port/starboard corner holders and center transom holder need to be vertical swivel holders. 2 port and 2 starboard holders can be angled.)
- Replace hatch hardware
- Hard top/windows
- Reconfigure electronics box for flush mounting
- Windshield wipers
- Bow railing has issues in places (water intrusion too I think)
- Anchor windlass installed
- New outriggers
- New hardtop/marling tower/windows/enclosure
- Remote search light on hardtop
- Deck floodlights mounted in hardtop
- New Soundown in entire engine box, under floor and on ceiling of hardtop
- Swim platform installed (cut in tuna door?)
- Replace through-hulls
- New deck fill plates (water/diesel/waste)
- Restore exterior finish, boot stripe and bottom paint
Cabin/cockpit
- Interior and hardtop lighting upgraded
- New speakers installed for VHF & stereo
- Replace front hatch
- Cockpit sole in cabin
- Headliner interior
- Cushion engine box top/back for seating
- Flex trim around base of engine boxes
- Repair hatch hardware on engine boxes
- Reinstall toilet (hose leak)
- Cushion replaced V-birth
- New door to cabin
- Check freshwater & saltwater washdowns are working
- Install instant hot-water heater
Engines
- Go through both engines & injectors
- Water pumps checked
- Replace manifold/risers?
- Air filters for Cummins
- Oil change
- Replace Racor filters
Electrical
- Make sure batteries are charged
- Re-wiring engine and electronics
- Update/fix electrical panel
- Shore power wiring replaced
- AC/DC inverter
- Install front & rear bilge with autoswitch
- Install new electronics (GPS, radar, fish-finder, 2 VHF’s)
- New antennas
- Gauges – RPM, temperature, oil, volt/hour meter (entire panel)
- Underwater lights installed in transom
- New horn/running lights
- New compass
- Epirb
- New trim tabs switches
Helm/running gear
- Steering replaced/repaired
- Engine controls/throttle/shift system replaced/repaired
- Cutlass bearings replaced
- Zincs replaced
- Prop scan/tuning
- Adjust steering/repack rudder stuffing box
We’ve decided not to tackle “The List” in its entirety this season. Instead we’ll do the majority of this in order to get the boat in the water and then take it project by project from there. In my next installment, I’ll fill you in on where we are at with the project and what we’re doing with C&C marine currently at the NorthCoast factory.
