In this week’s striper migration report, OTW Assistant Editor Matt Haeffner covers the biomass of 40-pound-plus stripers rounding Montauk point, bass keying in on sand eels around Block Island, and large schools of bunker spanning from the North Shore of Massachusetts up to southern Maine.
With July fast approaching, we’re beginning to see stripers hunker down in well-known summer dwellings such as Block Island, the Elizabeth Islands, and the deep rips outside of the Long Island Sound. But all hope for a spring run trophy is not lost, as there’s still some north-bound movement from cow stripers between coastal Connecticut up to northern New England.
