On The Water’s Jimmy Fee and Kevin Blinkoff discuss the excellent striper fishing in New Jersey, and the arrival of the first migratory striped bass along the south-facing beaches of Martha’s Vineyard on this week’s Striper Season Update brought to you by West Marine.

The age-old question, “is this a migratory or holdover striped bass?” arises as striper activity increases throughout southern New England. One way to tell if the early spring striper you’ve landed is fresh off the spring migration is by the presence of sea lice. Jimmy and Kevin discuss what the presence of these small copepods means in relation to the striper migration, and how they affect striped bass.
