In early spring, anticipation builds for the arrival of migrating striped bass. Each year is different, with the exact timing strongly influenced by water temperatures along the Atlantic coast.

By tracking fishing reports from charter captains, contributors, and readers, we have been mapping the striped bass spring migration from the Mid-Atlantic to Maine since 2015. Thes results have provided interesting insight into the migration’s timing.
2021
The spring migration in 2021 was very similar to 2020, with migration patterns influenced by both water temperatures and the prevalance of menhaden. Schools of big striped bass were less widespread and often concentrated in discrete areas at specific times, which likely reflects the documented decline in numbers of large stripers.

We have a tournament scheduled for mid-May in Lower Chesapeake (Solomons, MD) area and would be greatly interested in forecasts for that area. We also are scheduled to fish for stripers in another tournament planned for mid-Cape Cod, MA area (Orleans, MA) in early June.
My Rod & Gun Club has 2 striper fishing tournaments scheduled & would like update advisories with forecasts.
The first is in Mid-May in lower Chesapeake (Solomon’s, MD)
The 2nd is iplanned for early June n the Cape Cod, MA mid-Cape area (Orleans, MA)
Last summer there was definately a decrease in the striper population in and around Boothbay Maine.I caught about half of what I usually catch! I hope this year is better !
Great!
