In New England in early January, it can be challenging to find open water or fish willing to bite. Luckily for anglers, the state of Massachusetts does a great job stocking Cape Cod’s many kettle ponds with trout from nearby hatcheries. In this video, OTW Assistant Editor, Matt Haeffner, is joined by his friend Jack Renfrew for a morning of bait-&-wait fishing for winter time trout on the Outer Cape. Matt and Jack rig up live shiners and nightcrawlers, and even cast around some tried-and-true trout lures for stocked rainbow and brown trout.
