From its headwaters in the mountains of Vermont, the Deerfield River meanders southeast through the beautiful hills of western Massachusetts and along the historic Mohawk Trail. Renowned for its steep valley views and spectacular fall foliage, the Mohawk Trail was once an important Native American trade route and is now known as the most picturesque driving route in Massachusetts.
