Delmarva
Bigeye fishing fired up toward the end of last week, with several large fish weighed into Ocean City, Maryland marinas. Billfishing has been good, so good that the boats looking to rack up points in the Tri-State Canyon Shootout out of Block Island were fishing closer to Maryland.
New Jersey/New York
The tuna fishing off New Jersey is very good with 60- to 90-inch bluefin at inshore spots like Little Italy, smaller bluefin and a few yellowfin at mid-shore spots like the Resor Wreck and Atlantic Princess, and good yellowfin tuna fishing in the canyons. Husdon had a great yellowfin bite, with anglers catching them on the jig up on the flats.

New England
South of the Vineyard and Block Island showed signs of life this week, with some reports of trolling jigging action. Seems like things have been a bit hot and cold, but there are bluefin from 30 to 45 inches, with some 60 to 80 inch fish, feeding on sand eels out there. Overall, most anglers agree this season has yet to match last year’s incredible fishing on those grounds. But with plenty of sand eels out there, things could improve very quickly.
The New England canyons continue to produce good numbers of yellowfin, with some bigeye and marlin in the mix. Overnight anglers are connecting with the occasional swordfish.
